Kodur MLA represents problems to SCR General Manager

KADAPA: South Central Railways General Manager H.K. Padhe on Thursday promised to resolve problems represented by Railway Kodur legislator G. Venkateswara Prasad.

The MLA called on the General Manager when the GM special train reached Kodur railway station. Dr. Prasad sought replacement of a railway gate near Kodur railway station to benefit people of 30 villages, who cross over every day to reach their villages. Some 3,000 students of degree and junior colleges cross the gate everyday, he said.

Causing hardship

The new gate put up a kilometre away was posing hardship to them, the MLA explained. Mr. Padhe said a new gate in place of the old one would be fixed if the State Government paid Rs.1.30 crores to the Railways Department. The MLA sought construction of a second platform at Kodur, water taps and lighting facilities, shelters and chairs for seating on the platform besides stoppage of Egmore Express at Kodur. He assured the MLA of examining the issues and resolving them expeditiously.

Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager Manohar and Kodur Station Manager Subrahmanyam and railway official J.P. Williams, Kodur mandal president Easwaraiah, ZPTC member Nagaraju and former Sarpanch P. Sukumar Reddy were present.

Meanwhile, the SCR General Manager visited the relay hunger strike camp of Railway Aikya Porata Samithi members at Nandalur and interacted with them. He said he would forward their demands to Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad. Later, Mr. Padhe inspected Kadapa railway station and directed officials to construct a community hall in the vacant site before railway sub-engineer’s office. He also directed officials to shift the general waiting hall and the cycle/scooter stand. He inspected the ticket reservation counter and railway protection force station.
