VISAKHAPATNAM: The CPI (M), which is opposing bauxite mining in the agency area and setting up of alumina refineries and cogeneration plants in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts, asked the Congress Government to issue a notification investing riparian rights to the 6,000 acres of additional ayacut of Raiwada reservoir.

CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao made this demand at a press conference here on Saturday in the wake of Housing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana’s remarks that water supply to Jindal South West’s refinery in S. Kota mandal would be ensured and bauxite mining would be taken up despite opposition by a majority participants in the public hearing on Jindal plant as well as mining.
