HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Friday arrested three officials at different places in the State on charge of acquiring properties illegally.
Searches at the house of Motor Vehicle Inspector of Road Transport Authority’s West Zone in Hyderabad, S. Narayan Reddy, and those of his relatives revealed that he owned assets worth over Rs. 1.60 crore that were disproportionate to his known sources of income, a press release said.
The ACB officials also found 29 foreign liquor bottles in the MVI’s house. Storing foreign liquor bottles without permission is an offence under Section 34 of Excise Act. Hence, a separate case was being registered against the officer under this Act, in addition to the disproportionate assets case under Prevention of Corruption Act. Among his assets were a house and a commercial complex in Banjara Hills, another in Jubilee Hills and four acres of agricultural land and a house at Rajendranagar.
He also owned four cars - a Mercedez Benz, Opel Astra, Mitsubishi Lancer and Fiat 118. Two other officials, Bandi Sana Reddy, an accountant in Kadapa District Civil Supplies Corporation and Ch. Suryanarayana, Mandal Engineering Officer of Pedapudi in East Godavari, were arrested on similar charge.
