`Sivaji' has a strong social message, says TDP president

HYDERABAD: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said here on Thursday that superstar Rajnikanth was welcome to join the Third Front.

He was responding to a question, at a press conference after a special screening of the Rajnikanth starrer `Sivaji', whether he would invite the superstar to join the recently-formed Third Front. Mr. Naidu said that the movie had a strong social message, apart from having all the ingredients of a `mass thriller'.

"The message on corruption and that half the Gross Domestic Product comprised black money was very effectively picturised. It does not lag behind on the action components and the style that Mr. Rajnikanth is known for, though. History will surely be made," he prophesied.

It was like a `mela' at Prasad's Preview Theatre where a strong media contingent waited for Mr. Naidu and Mr. Rajnikanth to come out after watching the Rs. 84-crore blockbuster.

`Good friend'

Describing Mr. Naidu as a `good friend', the superstar said he was grateful to him for the support and recalled that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Karunanidhi too had good words for the film after it was screened for him.

"Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa too said she would see the film," he said.

To a question, he said he would surely invite Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to watch the film and added that Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had also expressed interest.

Among those present at the screening were Mr. Naidu's son Lokesh, Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerran Naidu, MP C. Ramachandraiah, and party general secretary Sobha Nagi Reddy. The Telugu film industry was represented by producer D. Suresh Babu and Telugu distributor for `Sivaji' Bellamkonda Suresh.
