‘Not a single house was built in town for past 3 years in the Congress regime’

ANANTAPUR: The district unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday urged the Congress legislators in the district to tread the path of Anantapur legislator B. Narayana Reddy by protesting against the Government on the problems of the poor.

District secretary of the CPI(M) party G. Obulakonda Reddy alleged that the Congress regime had failed to construct even a single house in the town for the last three years.

Demolition

But it had demolished about 715 thatched houses of the poor in Rahul Gandhi Colony, Jhansi Colony, Krupananda Nagar Railway Kottala and now the hutments along railway tracks in Kovvur Nagar.

Encroachments

The ruling party legislator’s protest against the removal of hutments of the poor along railway tracks in Kovvur Nagar was a result of CPI (M)’s agitation.

The party activists had been preventing removal of encroachments by the police for the last three days. The legislator had met the people on Wednesday and was forced to take up a protest, he said.

Problem solving

The protest by the legislator should not be limited to assurances but it should pave way in resolving the problem of house sites and houses to the poor in the town, he said.

He urged the people to understand why the ruling party legislator was agitating for them when the Government was bent upon suppressing the CPI (M) movement for the same.

The CPI (M) leader sought to know from the Congress leaders, who had been criticising the Left party that it had taken up the movement only for political gains.

He urged the other legislators of the ruling party in the district to take the path of agitation if they were sincere towards the poor people.
