HYDERABAD: Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) recognises the need for transferring intellectual property (IP)-enabled technology through commercial, cooperative and public routes to provide subsistence to farmers, says Director-General of ICAR and Secretary to Government of India, Department of Agricultural Research and Education Mangala Rai.

Addressing a three-day workshop on IP and technology management in ICAR system here on Wednesday at National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Mr. Rai said that food security was an integral part of national security. Therefore, patent regime has become an important element in national security.

Director of NAARM S.M. Ilyas said that the academy proposed to conduct several regional workshops to develop human resources in the area of IP.
