Mala Mahanadu leader discharged from hospital

  • Reiterates demand referring issue to national panel
  • Arrest of Madiga Dandora activists for burning buses

Kakinada: Mala Mahanadu State president Karem Shivaji, who called off his fast at the intervention of State Congress SC cell chairman Bunga Saradhi last night, has been discharged from Government General Hospital here on Tuesday afternoon. Since a case was booked against him under section 309, he was released on personal surety bond. Addressing newsmen at the hospital premises here before leaving for Rajahmundry, he reiterated his demand for referring the whole issue to the National SC ST Commission making it clear that Mehra Commission was not at all acceptable to Malas. He also clarified that the Malas agitation against categorisation would continue despite the reign of terror unleashed by the Government. On the proposed fast unto death stir announced by Jupudi Prabhakar, Shivaji said majority of the Malas would not trust such gimmicks.

He said Prabhakar was the stooge of Congress and his stir was aimed at diluting the Malas agitation.

    Police action flayed

If Prabhakar was really sincere and serious on Malas welfare, Shivaji said he should first resign the MLC post and then launch the agitation. He was also very much critical about the police action against him while he was on fast on to death at Rajahmundry. "Such action by rapid action force was quite unwarranted and uncalled for. It is unprecedented in the country.. They had acted to disrupt the hunger strike at the behest of the Chief Minister," he alleged. Shivaji has called upon Madigas to strive unitedly for finding out a solution to the problem

He has demanded the arrest of Manda Krishna Madiga and Madiga Dandora workers involved in the burning of buses and destruction of public property.
