Works on new CC road has come to a standstill at Brahmasankarnagar
HYDERABAD: A huge trench instead of the CC road, interspersed with puddles of brackish sewer water, in the middle of bustling Brahmasankarnagar, a slum hutment at Borabanda, epitomises the way the civic scene is being botched up by authorities.
This road supposed to connect the neighbouring five slums with Yousufguda and Hi-tec City was dug up for a new CC road. However, since eight months, the work has come to a standstill much to the dismay of the locals here.
"In the process of digging, officials found that the drinking water supply is getting mixed with the sewer lines. They had to abandon the work and since then, the sewer have kept on leaking and inundating the trench," informs L. Mallesh, a local tailor here.
As a result of the huge dugout part, residents here have to climb back to their houses by using stones laid out in the form of stairs. "Because of the stalled construction activity, water supply has also ceased to exist. So we have to collect water from neighbouring colonies and then trek back home," says P. Nagalakshmi, a resident here.
Presence of puddles of grime is disrupting the vehicular movement. As a result, residents here are compelled to take up a circuitous route to reach Yousufguda and eventually Motinagar and Ameerpet.
"We can't bring our vehicles to our doorsteps. We are compelled to park them at the end of the road. On several occasions, we had approached officials of Rehmathnagar division but they are yet to take any action," says Moin, a local here.
