HYDERABAD: Be it by design or by default, political lineage has been paying off. Kinship with prominent politicians has brought in at least half-a-dozen MLAs into the new Cabinet in the State.

Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) literally inherited the post of MLA of Denduluru constituency from his parents. He truly, and not so surprisingly, inherited the Ministerial berth too from his parents -- the late Maganti Ravindranath Chowdary and Varalakshmi - who served as Ministers between 1989 and 1994. Chowdary died hours after his induction into the Cabinet in the N. Janardhana Reddy Government in 1991 following which his wife Varalakshmi contested the election and became a Minister.

Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, nephew of former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and son of former Guntur Zilla Parishad chairman Kasu Vengala Reddy, was groomed to be a politician. He once served as Minister in the T. Anjaiah Cabinet. It is after almost 26 years that he has become a Minister again. Mandali Buddha Prasad is the son of Education Minister Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao. Anam Ramanarayan Reddy is a third generation politician from the Anam clan with A.C. Subba Reddy, Anam Sanjeeva Reddy and Anam Venkata Reddy, Anam Bhaktavatsala Reddy holding ministerial positions from the formation of the State till the early `80s. Galla Aruna is the daughter of veteran Congress leader P. Rajagopala Naidu who was MP from Chittoor Lok Sabha constituency in 1977 and 1980. Damodar C. Raja Narasimha is the son of Raja Narasimha who served as a Minister long ago. The lineage of existing Ministers J. Geeta Reddy (daughter of Republican party leader J. Eswari Bai), N. Rajayalakshmi (wife of former Chief Minister N. Janardhana Reddy), G. Vinod (son of G. Venkataswamy, MP), P. Venkateswara Rao (son of former ZP chief P. Koteswara Rao) and Sabita Indra Reddy (wife of former Minister P. Indra Reddy) is already known.
