About 60 vedic pundits and 40 vedic students to participate

    VISAKHAPATNAM: A two-day Uttarandhra Vedic Sammelan will be held at Vasavi Kalyana Mandapam near Sivalayam in Gajapathinagarm of Vizianagaram district on April 7 and 8.

    About 60 vedic pundits belonging to the three north Andhra districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam and 40 vedic students of the region studying in Veda Pathasalas in Vizianagaram, Simhachalam, Tuni, Annavaram, Kakinada, Kapileswarapuram, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Srisailam, Mahanandi and Kanchi in Tamil Nadu are expected to participate in the examinations to be held in all the four Vedas including Sukla Yajurveda which will be conducted during the two days, according to the secretary of Uttarandhra Veda Vidya Trust, D. Bhaskara Murthy.

    Universal peace

    This is the eighth annual Sammelan and the Trust and Arya Vysya Sangham in Gajapathinagaram would hold it jointly, he added.

    "On the first day morning, a procession of Vedic pundits, students and local people of Gajapathinagaram will be taken out from Vasavi Kalyana Mandapam and it will be followed by Chaturveda Parayana by the pundits for universal peace and harmony.

    In the evening, a Mahajanasabha will be held and Sadguru Kandukuri Sivananda Munrty of Anandavanam from Bheemunipatnam will honour the scholars. Former chairman of Bar Council of India D.V. Subba Rao will deliver the valedictory address on the second day during the Mahajanasabha," he said.
