    Kakinada: A unique musical fete- `Sri Ramadas keerthana tharangini'-in which for the first time in past five decades nine top musicians are taking part, will be organised at the Suryakala Mandir here on April 2 under the joint auspices of Abhyudaya foundation and Badam Apparao Guptha memorial trust.

    Addressing a press conference here on Sunday Badam Madhava Rao chairman of the Foundation said that Music maestro Nedunuri Krishnamurthy would conduct the entire programme in which doyens such as Garimella Balakrishna Prasad, Malladi Suribabu, Ramprasad and Ravi Kumar -Malladi brothers, Akondi Srinivasa Rajarao, Chaitanya brothers and V. Lalitha Chandrasekhar and J. Sarada Subrahmanyam would participate. The highlight of the programme, he said, was distribution of akshinthalu used for the celestial wedding at Bhadrachalam temple on Sriramanavami, to the audience and artistes as well by the Vedic pundits.

    Abhyudaya Puraskar

    Madhavarao said that the very idea in conducting the fete was to focus the attention of the people on the greatness of Srirama dasa keertanas, which did not receive so much popularity as that of sages Annamayya and Tyagaraja. He said he had instituted `Abhyudaya Puraskar' to honour one eminent person in field of social service and created a corpus fund with Rs.20 lakhs.

    To start with, he said, Nedunuri Krishnamurthy would be conferred with the `Puraskar' tomorrow.

    As a part of the social service activity, Madhavarao said he had already announced Rs.12 lakhs for the completion of the HIV/AIDS block in the government general hospital.

    In addition, he said, he had offered to construct Rs.50 lakh integrated hostel for SC ST BCs at the school premises in Pithapuram for which governments approval is awaited.
