Hitex hall bustles with activity; 5,000 jobs on offer

HYDERABAD: For some, it was a day when better avenues in the software and IT-enabled sector beckoned, promising them a bright future. For others, the day turned out to be a memorable learning experience, which would hold them in good stead in the future.

Scores of gifted, experienced and a few `wide-eyed' graduates, fresh from college, turned up in large numbers on the inaugural day of the two-day `The Hindu Opportunities Job Fair-2007', which has over 5,000 jobs to offer, at Hitex Exhibition Grounds, Madhapur.

The morning started on a high note with candidates lining up for registrations and heading for their respective kiosks at brisk pace. The Hitex hall was bustling with hectic activity, as HR managers and executives got busy sifting through heaps of CVs. While some lucky ones managed to get plum jobs, others, especially freshers seemed to be more interested in soaking up the experience of facing an interview and getting rejected. "I did not get any job, but they advised me to brush up my communication skills and apply again. It's a great experience for me, as this is the first time I am coming to a job fair," says Chandan Chaterjee.
