Rajahmundry: Candidates contesting from different political parties started campaigning after Congress and Telugu Desam Party have finalised lists and distributed B.Forms. On Saturday, TDP came out with final list of 22 candidates, leaving one ward to its ally, CPI (M), and promised another co-option member for it. Announcing this at a press conference, Jyothula Nehru, district president of the TDP, said they had made one change in first list of 27 candidates, that is, 34th division where his party candidate shifted loyalty and joined Congress.

He said in place of her P. Sumitra would contest as candidate from TDP. He said the delay in announcing second list was not due to differences in party.

United face

Except in three divisions, the TDP has put up 46 new faces in this election. Congress groups came on a common platform on Friday and announced final list and also distributed B.Forms. Danam Nagender, district in-charge from PCC, made patch-up between groups of Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar group and Minister Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao and saw to it that Mr. Harsha Kumar made an announcement that he would work under the leadership of the Minister. Finally, Mr. Harsha Kumar, PCC member Dokala Murali and Congress city president Ramineedu Murali ensured that their group got ticket. MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao got grip in selection of candidates.

The TDP is facing jolts from its own party leaders. The unity between senior leaders can be seen only during press conferences or city level meetings.
