Sangareddy: The Medak district Congress Committee has decided to organise a signature campaign on Monday in support of the State Government's decision to set up IIT in the district. In a first-ever organised effort to galvanise public support for the proposal establishment of IIT in Medak district a meeting here on Wednesday resolved to meet Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and PCC president K. Keshava Rao on January 27 as part of the Chalo Hyderabad Padayatra and submit the signatures.

Addressing party cadre from all mandals Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Fariduddin pointed out that, though the Assembly resolved to set up IIT at Basar, technical aspects favoured

Medakas an ideal place for the premier institution.

    As a right

He said Medak, which had sacrificed its Manjira water for the people of Hyderabad, had every right for equal development. He alleged that famous mathematician Chukka Ramaiah who wanted to enter the MLC race was trying to rake up emotions in Adilabad by opposing IIT at Medak.

Minister for Tourism J. Geetha Reddy warned MPs K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Narendra who had links with Medak not to oppose the State Government's decision. She also asked Telugu Desam Party and TRS cadre to participate in the proposed Chalo Hyderabad programme and said history would not forgive Narendra who is an MP from Medak for opposing IIT in his constituency. Taking serious note of the comments made by Narendra on her and Fariduddin she said that Narendra should not forget that one is a dalit woman and another belongs to the minority community.
