Site reverberates with applause of 600-plus cadets

TIRUPATI: Colourful cultural programmes and distribution of prizes to the excelling cadets marked the close of the National Integration Camp (NIC) conducted at the Tirupati group headquarters here on Tuesday.

The camp site reverberated with the cheerful applause of the 600-plus cadets at the closing ceremony.

Apart from the four southern States, cadets from Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, north-eastern States, Orissa, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal took part.

The Andhra Pradesh directorate bagged the first prize in National Integration Awareness presentation and second prize in drill.

SVU Vice-Chancellor S. Jayarama Reddy, SV Arts College principal Syamsunder Naidu, Group commander Sandeep Kumar spoke on the need for the cadets to inculcate qualities like valour, patriotism, sportsmanship, discipline and an attitude for social service. Cultural troupes representing various directorates performed song and dance sequences. reflecting their respective ethnic and folk art forms that turned out to be a major highlight.
