People are irked as Chiranjeevi avoids talking to them
REPALLE (GUNTUR DT.): Praja Rajyam Party founder K. Chiranjeevi, who arrived at Penumudi just before the sunset on Sunday, showed no interest in talking to the flood-affected people at Penumudi Road Bridge, or the Penumudi village in Repalle mandal.
Women, who turned out in large numbers at Penumudi to watch the politician-turned-film star and listen to him, were angry with him as he did not stop in the village to address them.
“Why should he visit our village if he does not sympathise with our condition in the floods,” the women asked PRP supporters, who hogged the limelight pushing the real affected people to the fringes.
The Tirupati MLA just stopped for five minutes at the Right Flood Bank-Penumudi junction to distribute some rice bags and bedsheets organised by the party leaders.
He did not talk about floods there and even after going into the Penumudi village, which was under 5 feet of water, he just climbed top of his van and waved to his fans as though he had come for some film promotion.
Chiranjeevi’s supporters raised slogans all along the route from Puligadda Toll Plaza to Peteru in Repalle town and criss-crossed the traffic with their bikes at high-decibel honking and the leader surrounded by top party leaders, gave no scope for the flood-affected people to anywhere near him either in the villages or in Repalle town.
His arrival during night literally served no purpose and hence the party decided to take him to Lanka Villages on Monday in Guntur district.
