SpongeBob SquarePants toys launched

HYDERABAD: It was fun time for children at Landmark, Banjara Hills as they gathered around to meet their favourite cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. The cartoon character along with popular video jockey Deepti Gujral of MTV were in the city on Friday to launch a range of SpongeBob SquarePants plush toys brought out by ‘My Baby Excels’ in association with Nickelodeon.

The adorable yellow-coloured freckled cartoon came alive as he danced, shook hands and posed for photographs with the excited, squealing children. And for once, the cuddly cartoon character grabbed more attention than the VJ.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Dahiya, vice-president, Viacom18 Pvt.Ltd said that the launch was aimed not just at children but also young adults. Terming Spongebob SquarePants as a global phenomena, Muslim Kapasi, managing director, ‘My Baby Excels’, said that the company was very excited to have the licensing rights for the character. “We are very sure the markets will lap up this range as well as by far SpongeBob is one of Nickelodeon’s most popular characters among kids.”

The plush toys are available in six variants: SpongeBob SquarePants, Squire SpongeBob, Grown-Up SpongeBob, SpongeBob with Gary, SwimTrunks SpongeBob and CowBob RanchPants.

Priced at Rs.399, they are available in retails stores like Landmark, Lifestyle and other toy stores.
