Mustafa says he has been made a scapegoat
KHAMMAM: The Two Town police on Wednesday arrested Md. Mustafa, Youth Congress town president, one of the accused in the DCC office episode.
Though he denied his involvement in tearing the poster of party president Sonia Gandhi, a case was booked against him for stalling the membership drive taken up by DCC president Vanama Venkateswar Rao.
Almost all the senior leaders of the party disowned him in the wake of the controversy that annoyed the party leadership.
Talking to mediapersons, Mustafa said that he was made the scapegoat for the incident.
“I am not the only rowdy-sheeter in the Congress party. There are 10 to 15 members with such record in the district party.
But I have become the ultimate target of some leaders in connection with the incident,” he said, and added that he had tendered his resignation to the post and handed over the letter to the district chief of the organisation.
Recalling the services he had rendered for the party during the past 15 years, he said he worked for Renuka Chowdhury, Younis Sultan and even the district Minister.
He joined the protest to see Jaganmohan Reddy as the Chief Minister and stalled the DCC membership drive. He said the rowdy-sheet was opened against him during the TDP regime.
Mr. Mustafa said he was not involved in serious offences and had nothing to do with the poster tearing.
