KARIMNAGAR: Barricading of a lane and closure of another road by the police, caused serious inconvenience to the general public in front of the Zilla Parishad office opposite the busy bus station complex in the town on Wednesday.
In view of Zilla Parishad chairman election at the ZP conference hall, the district police has closed down the road opposite ZP and diverted traffic through a single lane causing serious traffic snarls and inconvenience to commuters and others bound towards the bus station complex.
Besides, the police has also closed the road adjacent to the ZP office going towards the DIG and SP’s camp office. The RTC buses were forced to divert their routes causing inconvenience to daily travellers. On the other hand, the police did not allow vehicles into the Zilla Parishad premises forcing owners to park their vehicles on the roads.
Despite Section 144 in force and heavy police force, Congress and TDP supporters gathered in front of the ZP office, further blocking the road. The ZPTC members of Telugu Desam Party and other leaders staged a ‘rasta roko’ and dharna. The victory processions by the Congress rank and file added to the commotion in the town.
