KOTHAGUDEM: Director-General of Police R. R. Girish Kumar has said an effective mechanism is being evolved to combat Maoists across the inter-State borders. As a part of his stock-taking mission in the Maoist-stronghold pockets of Khammam, he made a surprise visit to some of the police stations close to the strife–torn areas of Chhattisgarh.
Later talking to mediapersons, he said the situation was by and large under control in the State. He attributed the stray incidents of violence in Warangal district to the action teams of the CPI (Maoist) out to make their presence felt.
There had been, however, no information on the operation of action teams in Khammam so far. He said the police fighting the Maoists were well-equipped to beat back any attack.
