Appointments reflect political culture of YSR
‘Swaranjit rewarded for his services to ruling party as DGP’
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s decision to appoint disqualified Member of Parliament Manda Jagannadham as the Special representative of the State in New Delhi.
Recalling that another Member of Parliament D.K. Adikesavulu Naidu, who defied the TDP whip, and voted for the Indo-US nuclear deal was given posting as TTD chairman, TD parliamentary party leader K. Yerran Naidu said the appointments reflected the ‘political culture’ being followed by Dr. Reddy. The Chief Minister gave a go by to values in politics when he lured the Members of Parliament from other parties to defy their respective parties during the no confidence motion, he said. Mr. Yerran Naidu was also critical of the appointment of former DGP Swaranjit Sen as the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation chairman claiming that Mr. Sen was rewarded for “his services to the ruling party when he was the DGP.”
Recalling that Mr. Sen was heading the police force when TDP legislator Paritala Ravindra was killed, he alleged that it was during his tenure that evidences were tampered.
