Philanthropic professionals organise Chirstmas celebrations

HYDERABAD: It turned out to be a memorable day for The Hyderabad Children’s Aid Society students as they participated in a special drawing competition and cultural programmes with joy here on Sunday. A voluntary organisation, the Society provides free education, boarding and lodging for several students.

Under the banner of Aashayein foundation, a group of software employees and business management graduates in connection with Christmas celebrations organised the competition for students on the society premises at Nanalnagar. The competition was conducted in three categories for different age groups.

Most of the students are orphans and are extremely talented in different fields.

The objective behind conducting the drawing competition and cultural programmes was to provide a platform for students to exhibit their talent, said Suyash Chopra, who heads Aashayein Foundation Hyderabad chapter. Soon after the competition commenced, the 140-odd children wasted no time in drawing cartoons, picturesque locations etc.

To make the celebrations even more enjoyable, some employees clad in Santa Claus attire arrived at the venue and distributed colour pencils and chocolates to the participants. It was fun all the way. “The distribution of chocolates only an addition to it”, said Anitha, an inmate of the society, whose dream it is to become a software professional.

Such programmes help children to relax and nurture their talent. It was a good initiative by the Aashayein Foundation in conducting such programmes for underprivileged children, said The Hyderabad Children’s Aid Society Joint Secretary, Jeny Gupta.
