VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada region of the APSRTC has introduced special buses titled “Ayyappa Kondaku RTC Bus” for the devotees visiting Sabarimala in Kerala.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, APSRTC Vijayawada Regional Manager A. Koteswara Rao said there were many advantages in the special package of five-day tour to Sabarimala. The tariff was brought down to Rs. 25 per km compared to last year’s Rs. 28 per km. While the ticket for adults would be Rs. 2,500 (to and fro), it would Rs.1,900 for children.
A free ticket would be offered for every 10 tickets, while two tickets would be given free if a bus was hired.
The APRTC has made arrangements for link buses from the parking place to Pampa.
Even if the devotees missed their scheduled bus at Sabarimala, they would be allowed to travel in the next bus to their destination in return journey, he said.
The APSRTC has made arrangements for 100 trips to Sabarimala during this season and was expecting revenue of at least Rs. 50 lakh. As many as 20 super luxury and 10 deluxe buses would be kept ready for the special package.
Mr. Rao said there was tremendous response to the Pancharamalu package. More than 100 buses were plied under Pancharamalu package, and the APSRTC earned revenue of Rs. 12 lakh.
