HYDERABAD: Minister for Wakf Shabbir Ali on Saturday agreed to transfer immediately Rs.36 crores belonging to the Hazarath Syed Ali Ishaq Madani Aulia (Dargah) to nationalised banks at Visakhapatnam for development of mosques, burial grounds and renovation of the Dargah.

The decision was taken following a meeting between him and T. Subbarami Reddy, MP, and officials of the Wakf Board. They discussed development of mosques, burial grounds, renovation of dargahs, construction of an Urdu school and development of Idgahs in Visakhapatnam.

Mr. Reddy said in a statement that the Minister had agreed to provide Rs.1.5 lakh each for developing 20 mosques and 18 burial grounds, Rs.48 lakhs for renovation of the Dargah in Visakhapatnam.

Mr. Shabbir Ali decided to set apart Rs.10 lakhs each for the construction of two marriage halls (‘shadikhana’) near Kakatiya ITI, New Gajuwaka and Lawson’s Bay Colony. He will provide Rs.50 lakhs for the construction of a residential Urdu college at New Gajuwaka.
