Some two lakh ryots can utilise loan waiver scheme: Minister
KHAMMAM: The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sambhani Chandrasekhar said on Wednesday that Rs 65.16 crores would be distributed as a special incentive to farmers who were not covered under the loan waiver scheme in Khammam district. Inaugurating the farmers incentive week at Nelakondapalli village, he said that some 2.33 lakh farmers could avail themselves of the loan waiver to the tune of Rs 303 crores.
He said that the State Government had taken the initiative to disburse some Rs 1,600 crores to 23 lakh farmers as incentive as they were not covered under the loan waiver programme. He said that the Congress Government in the State and at Centre were keen on reaching out to the peasant community to revive its fortunes. Free power could help bail out many farmers from crisis.
The Government could ensure at least seven-hour power supply to agriculture services. The farmers in the plain area were being extended an input subsidy of 50 per cent. In the agencies the input subsidy was enhanced to 90 per cent. The government had initiated special measures to ensure a fair deal to the farmers in the markets. The district Collector, Shashibhushan Kumar also spoke.
