KARIMNAGAR: BJP Kisan Morcha State president P. Sugunakar Rao alleged that the authorities of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) have colluded with traders and are denying minimum support price (MSP) to cotton farmers in the district.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he charged that the CCI authorities are procuring cotton only from traders and are denying MSP to farmers on the pretext of moisture content. Alleging that the government had failed to provide assured power supply to the farm sector, he said that crops had withered in several acres due to non-availability of power supply. He demanded Minister T. Jeevan Reddy to tender an apology for failing to provide the assured power supply to farmers.
Opposing the reported allocation of about 25 acres of Karimnagar dairy land to a section for the religious purposes, he alleged that the government had allocated land only to appease a particular section. He flayed the government for not considering the petitions pertaining to the allocation of sites for the construction of Goshala and burial grounds in Karimnagar town.
