NIZAMABAD: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has said communal incidents in Bhainsa were pre-planned and police failed to conduct searches at the hideouts of anti-social and communal elements.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he said the incidents in Bhainsa indicated lapses in security arrangements and also the failure of the police in taking precautionary measures to prevent communal tension. He said the police could not sense danger though the troublemakers gathered heaps of stones at places to throw on a section of people.

Ineffective

“The Section 144 has become ineffective as it was reduced to ‘secular 144’ and it is being used only to prevent one section of people. When trouble is sensed the police are empowered to search places where troublemakers take shelter. The searches must be done irrespective of religion”, he maintained. Taking a dig at Home Minister K. Jana Reddy’s reported comment that the deaths in Bhainsa have not occurred due to police firing, but took place only in clashes, he said the former was known for his controversial statements. Besides, “it doesn’t behove of a person of such stature”, he said.

Wrong policies

Attributing the communal clashes to wrong policies of the powers that be, Mr. Rao said the secular agenda had become a single point agenda for appeasing people for votes. “We welcome real secularism”, he said and held the State Government responsible for the Bhainsa and Nirmal incidents.

On Telangana, he said formation of a separate State was a matter of five minutes process in the Parliament and there would not be any hassles in giving the State provided the Congress and the BJP were committed to the Telangana cause. “We are very clear on the issue and have the record of giving three States”, the senior BJP leader reiterated.
