Dharna staged in front of Collectorate

Sharanya was suffering from

Mahabubnagar: Parents, relatives and students staged a dharna along with the body of Sharanya, 16, in front of the Collectorate for over one hour here on Monday.

The girl died on Sunday in the government hospital while under going treatment. Her parents alleged that negligence of a doctor in the government headquarters hospital caused the death of the girl.

They said that Sharanya was admitted into the hospital four days back with fever.

The agitators demanded the government to announce ex-gratia and action against the doctor responsible.

District Collector V. Usharani presented best student award to Sharanya recently.

Sharanya parents, who met the Collector, complained that a doctor negligence was responsible for their daughter’s death. Ms. Usharani promised them that she would look into the case.

Charge refuted

Meanwhile, superintendent of hospital G. Samuel, Dr. Asi Reddy and Dr. Srinivas ruled out the allegation. They on the other hand alleged that the girl’s parents through their negligence are responsible for her death. They said that the girl’s parents were informed to take her to Hyderabad for immediate treatment, which they ignored.

Doctors stage protest

Meanwhile, protesting over the attacks and harassment by the relatives of the deceased, private doctors and managements of private nursing homes in the town today took out a rally from Crown Function Hall to Clock Tower Crossroads.

The doctors urged the government to provide protection to them. All the medical shops in the town observed bandh to extend their solidarity with the striking doctors.
