VISAKHAPATNAM: A worker died when he fell into a septic tank, which was under construction, near Gajuwaka on Friday.
According to the police, K. Sankara Rao, 21, of Bheemunipatnam had come to the city in search of work and settled at China Gantyada. He was doing plumbing work at a septic tank in Sundarayya Colony when he slipped and fell into the tank.
The tank was filled with water probably due to rain and he drowned in it. Gajuwaka Head Constable Sriramulu is investigating the case under the supervision of Circle-Inspector Ravi Varma.
Two hurt in accident
Two persons were severely injured and four others sustained simple injuries in an accident at Kurmannapalem junction on Friday.
The accident occurred when a lorry driver applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting another vehicle going ahead of it.
Another lorry hit it from behind resulting in serious injuries to two persons who were travelling in the second lorry.
Steel Plant Police are investigating the case.
Two persons were taken into custody by the City Task Force police on Friday on the charge of selling pirated CDs.
The accused -- B. Ramu and Y.R. Sanjeev Kumar -- contact their prospective customers over the phone and promise to give them CDs on astrology, vaastu and devotional songs.
They meet their clients at a pre-disclosed destination in the city and give them the CDs. On a tip-off, the CTF police took the accused into custody and are interrogating them.
Two washed away
Two persons were washed away in a stream at Annavaram village in the agency area of the district on Friday.
According to reports reaching here, B. Appanna of Dharmavaram village of S. Rayavaram mandal and V. Rajeswari of Annvaram village of Chintapalli mandal went to the stream to wash clothes when flash floods as a result of heavy rain washed them away.
