Leaders call for uplift of poor sections among community

HYDERABAD: If anything that brings together the most bitter of political adversaries nowadays it appears to be either common business interests or caste and community platforms.
They bury differences to such an extent that they do not even hesitate to shower praises on each other.
Inauguration of ‘Jupally Balamma Velama Kalyana Mandapam’ constructed by Andhra Pradesh Velama Association at Hakimpet here on Wednesday became one such platform for the community bigwigs cutting across party lines.
Velama leaders of the ruling Congress, shared the platform with those from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the Praja Rajyam (PR).
Chief Minister K. Rosaiah who was to inaugurate the kalyana mandapam could not make it to the function as he was busy up with other pressing commitments.
Speakers on the occasion advocated unity among different sects of the community settled in various parts of the State for ensuring their overall development and for greater representation in the political scenario.
The leaders sought allocation of higher aid to students from the community in the form of providing lodging facilities in the city.
Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said if every community developed itself by uplifting the backward sections among them, it would ultimately lead to development of society.
‘Do not suppress’
Community associations should not aim at suppressing others or snatching their opportunities.
Minister for Civil Supplies, Jupally Krishna Rao, Andhra Pradesh Velama Association president Chennadi Sudhakar Rao, former Congress Ministers -- M. Satyanarayana Rao and J. Ratnakar Rao --, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao of BJP, K. Vidyadhar Rao of Praja Rajyam, V. Chander Rao of TDP, B. Vinod Kumar and K. Taraka Rama Rao of TRS and J. Rameshwar Rao and others also spoke on the occasion.
