Zealous fans swarm Secunderabad railway station

HYDERABAD: ‘Santoshaandhra Pradesh’, the special train hired by actor Chiranjeevi to transport his fans from Hyderabad to Tirupati was given a colourful send-off at Secunderabad railway station on Monday evening.

Christening each coach (save the three earmarked for media) after a popular movie of the actor – like ‘Indra’, ‘Andarivadu’, ‘Tagore’, and ‘Stalin’, enthusiastic young men kept raising slogans hailing Mr. Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics.

Behind schedule

Zealous fans swarmed the railway station in large numbers to locate the train and enter that since 2 p.m., and the train left the station only at 4.15 p.m., an hour behind schedule.

1,000 fans travel

The 14-coach special train chugged its way through Mahbubnagar, Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa and Chittoor districts carrying 1,000 fans.

At every station – Shamshabad, Shadnagar, Balanagar, Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar and Gadwal, a motley crowd gathered near the train and waved at those travelling in it.

Enthusiastic

Enthusiastic youths wanted to clamber on board eager to see the actor, thinking he was also in the same train. As it was a special train, it had to make way for all other scheduled trains en route.
