Hyderabad: The Osmania Graduates’ Association is all set to celebrate its platinum jubilee. A host of programmes, including institution of gold medals to meritorious students, literary and cultural events, are planned to mark the year long celebrations.

Service oriented

Union Minister for Home, Shivraj Patil, will formally inaugurate the platinum jubilee celebrations on August 31while Union Minister for Urban Development, S. Jaipal Reddy, will release the platinum jubilee brochure. Formed 13 years after the establishment of Osmania University in 1919, the OGA is known for its service in the field of education in Telangana.


“The existence of an organisation for such a long time is significant,” remarked OGA president, B. Venkateshwar, and secretary, T.V. Gopala Chari.

They told presspersons here on Saturday that with the financial support from the Exhibition Society, the OGA was able to provide educational opportunities in the region, particularly for women. To carry out the various activities proposed on the occasion of platinum jubilee celebration, ten different committees had been formed.
