NIZAMABAD: Yerra Narasaiah, a jawan of Indian National Army, who died in a helicopter crash in Kashmir Valley on Saturday was cremated with full State honours at his native village Chittapur in Balkonda mandal on Monday afternoon.
Police and military personnel saluted to the body as a mark of respect when it arrived in a special vehicle from Hyderabad. The coffin wrapped in the tri-colour national flag was shifted to the crematorium in a tractor. Earlier, the body was placed at the local ZP High School for the public to pay homage. District Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu paid respects by placing wreaths on the body and consoled the bereaved family. He promised all possible help from the government to the family members. Nandipet ZPTC member Naidu Prakash placed wreaths on behalf of the Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy. Holiday was declared for the local schools.
