KADAPA: South Central Railway General Manager A. K. Padhee said here on Tuesday that the Nandyal-Yerraguntla railway line was expected to be completed by March next year.

Doubling work on Kadapa-Kamalapuram section would be ready by September-end and work was expedited on line doubling on Gooty-Pullampet route, he said.

Mr. Padhi inspected the Kadapa railway station premises, visitors’ lounges and other facilities and expressed satisfaction.

Senior railway officials and Senior Station Manager of Kadapa railway station J.P. Williams also participated.

The official later inspected the route for a railway line to be laid to Raghuram Cements factory either from Yerraguntla or Yerragudipadu.

BJP plea

Meanwhile, BJP district president O. Srinivasulu Reddy and other leaders submitted a memorandum to Mr. Padhi seeking halt of Sampark Kranthi, Balaji and Lokmanya Expresses and Madurai-Manmad Express at Yerraguntla railway station. The train halts would benefits passengers as there are three cement factories at Yerraguntla, Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant at Muddanur and flourishing gold and cloth businesses at Proddatur, they said.
