Asked to transform into active cadres

HYDERABAD: Film actor Chiranjeevi’s brother K. Nagendra Babu has said that fans who are eager to see the star in his political ‘avatar’ need to transform themselves into active cadres.

He was addressing a meeting attended by people from Chittoor, Mahbubnagar, Kadapa and Kurnool districts on Thursday as part of ‘Sannahaka samaveshaalu’ (preparatory meetings). The time for showing enthusiasm just as ‘fans’ had now progressed into a phase when they would have to shoulder responsibilities as active cadres, he said.

This way only they could take the actor’s message that he was going ahead with launching a political party that would be beyond caste, creed, religion or region, he said reminding them that there surely was a felt need for a new political order.

Mr. Nagendra Babu said 70 per cent of those who had filled in introductory forms giving their basic details had made mention of their political ambitions of becoming MLAs and MPs and that only 30 per cent had expressed their desire to take up ‘real service’ to the people. “Do not go for power and positions. If you serve the people, power and position will anyway follow,” he advised them.

The week-long programme that was kicked off on Monday covers four districts each day. While a majority of the participants are those from other political parties, mostly from the Telugu Desam, the others include first-timers from different walks of life.
