TIRUMALA: Splendour’ marked the ‘Pushpa pallaki’ procession at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara on Wednesday evening.
The procession was taken out in connection with the annual Ani Vara Asthanam festival.The exquisitely decorated flower palanquin carrying the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy and his two divine consorts was taken out in a grand procession along the mada streets encircling the holy shrine. Thousands of devotees witnessed the festival. According to temple authorities, thousands of kilograms of aromatic flowers went into the making of the palanquin. Noted florits from different parts of the country were called in to carve out the palanquin. In the morning, ‘Asthanam’ was conducted in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The temple management cancelled day-time rituals, including the Kalyanotsavams of the Lord.
