Imtiyaz Ali, 35, who was allegedly involved in some criminal cases, was murdered by three persons at Edi Bazaar on Monday night. Ali was sitting in a tea stall when the attackers wielding knives came and attacked him. He started running but fell when the assailants stabbed him to death and fled.

Ali and six of his associates were charged with killing a Telugu Desam worker Fayaz in the same area a few years ago. Except their accomplice, Sameer, all of them were subsequently acquitted of the charge. Later, he along with his associates was doing real estate business. Police suspect that some of his associates could be behind the killing.

Student ends life

Krishna Kumar, 23, a fourth year student of Fine Arts in Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, committed suicide on Monday around 4 p.m. at the university’s administrative building at Public Garden, the Nampally police said. The student fell unconscious after consuming pesticide at the building. He was rushed to a corporate hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Bomb hoax

Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads were rushed to the Nampally Criminal Court Complex on Monday after unidentified persons rang up the landline phone of the Fifth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge stating that bombs were planted in the court building on Monday. Searches, however, proved that it was a false alarm.

Fake certificates seized

The Commissioner’s Task Force (South) officials on Monday seized over 900 fake educational certificates after arresting Syed Mubeen Ahmed, 30, of Yakutpura. Over 82 rubber stamps and an embosser, a computer and an electronic typewriter were seized from him, the DCP A.S.C. Wesley told reporters.

The accused confessed that he used to make fake certificates of various degrees including that of MCA and MBA courses.
