Suffers deep injury on spine; tiff with a gang over serving of food in a hotel

KURNOOL: A ten-member gang attacked and stabbed Pridhvi Raj, reporter of Sakshi Telugu daily and Raman, an advertisement executive on the General Hospital campus in the city on Sunday night.

Pridhvi Raj, who suffered a deep injury on the spine losing sensation of the lower limbs, was shifted to Hyderabad. Raman suffered three stab injuries and was recovering.

According to reports, the reporter and his friends who went to a hotel for dinner last night had a tiff with a gang.

The gang objected to food being served to the reporter and his friends early and the argument that they (reporter and friends) had ordered their menu on phone was not bought by the gang. The argument led to a clash between the two groups. Both sides suffered injuries.

After the incident, Mr. Pridhvi and his friends lodged a complaint with the police and were getting treated for injuries at the hospital when the gang attacked them for the second time and stabbed the reporter and advertisement executive.

The gang lodged a complaint with the Two Town police under the provisions of the SC/ ST Atrocities Act while a case against the gang on the charges of attempt to murder was registered with the Three Town police.

Nerve damaged

Meanwhile, the doctors who examined Pridhvi advised an emergency operation at a bigger hospital as a nerve was damaged. Raman was treated for injuries at the General hospital.

Attack condemned

M.A. Gafoor, MLA, who visited the hospital condemned the incident and urged the police to control armed gangs in the city. Journalists also condemned the attack and demanded stringent action against the culprits who had the backing of certain politicians.
