VISAKHAPATNAM: A tribal schoolgirl committed suicide while her friend, who also made a suicide bid, is recovering in the community health centre at Paderu in the agency area of the district on Friday.
According to reports reaching here, P. Krishna Kumari (Std. X) and S. Roopavathi (Std. IX) were both studying at the Bandaveedhi Residential School in G. Madugula mandal. They were very good friends but two days ago some differences cropped up between them following which were stopped talking to each other.
On Friday morning, Krishna Kumari consumed sleeping pills and was rushed to the community health centre where she was declared dead. On hearing about her friend’s death, Roopavathi also consumed sleeping pills. She was rushed to the same hospital where she was said to be recovering.
G. Madugula Police are investigating the case.
A girl died reportedly in a suicide bid on Friday.
S. Dhanalakshmi, 17, of Santhinagar, Aganampudi, had been suffering from recurrent stomach problem for the last four years.
She had been using medicines whenever she experienced pain. On July 9, she consumed some unidentified liquid and was admitted to the King George Hospital the next day.
She died while undergoing treatment on Friday.
On a complaint filed by her father Appa Rao, the Gajuwaka Police registered a case and are investigating it.
