VIJAYAWADA: Vice-Chairman of Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri – Urban Development Authority Y.S. Prasad relinquished office on Wednesday at the end of a two-year deputation from his parent department, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
A G.O. issued by the Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development named Municipal Commissioner P.S. Pradyumna as in-charge Vice-Chairman, until further orders. This will mean that the UDA will be without a full-time Chairman and Vice-Chairman at the same time, as the district Collector has been holding the charge of Chairman ever since Malladi Vishnu’s term came to an end more than six months ago.
Mr. Prasad, who joined the UDA on July 10, 2006, is left with a year to retire from service, and, hence, sought repatriation to his parent department on health and personal grounds. “I have the satisfaction of seeing several projects take shape during my two-year stint. I took charge when the UDA’s bank balance was barely Rs.5 crores, and I am leaving now when the bank balance reached Rs.120 crores,” Mr. Prasad said.
Describing the Singapore class township near Mangalagiri as the most prestigious project in the last two years, he said the proposed IT special economic zone, for which Parsvanath Developers emerged as the sole bidder, would certainly change the “face of this region”. The sanction of inner ring road and grounding of several other link roads were other satisfying achievements, he said.
