Seven vehicles recovered

GUNTUR: Guntur Police have nabbed a notorious vehicle lifter, Rayapati Venkaiah alias Venkanna and recovered a Hyundai Santro car and seven motor cycles from his possession.

A habitual criminal and an ex-convict belonging to Kesanupalli village in Narsaraopet mandal, Venkaiah had an easy run lifting two wheelers and occasionally cars with ridiculous ease.

Armed with a clutch of duplicate keys and tools, he swoops on his target and lifts them within minutes.

His expertise could be gauged from the fact he would even take away a new Santro Car belonging to noted cardiologist Raghava Sharma parked in front of the Lalitha Super Speciality Hospital on May 25.

Officer on Special Duty M. Ravi Prakash said that spree of lifting vehicles continued unabated in the city and Vijayawada.

Having a fancy for high end motor bikes, he lifted motor bikes in Arundelpet, Pattabhipuram, Tenali and Mangalagiri towns.

But law finally caught up with him as Arundelpet police laid a trap and nabbed him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Town) M. Rajendranath, Central Crime Station Inspector B.P. Thirupalu and Arundelpet Detective Sub Inspector K.V. Narayana were present.
