VSP should acquire captive mines, says BMS secretary

He decries the export of raw material

VISAKHAPATNAM: All India General Secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) K. Lakshma Reddy underscored the need for merger of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) that had enormous potential of iron ore with the Visakha Steel Plant (VSP).

Speaking at the seminar on merger of NMDC with Visakha Steel Plant on Sunday at Ukku House at Ukkunagaram he said it is time that VSP should acquire captive mines and gear itself for further expansion. He urged all the trade unions to jointly make efforts to achieve the goal.

He also criticised the UPA Government’s policy of allowing exports of precious raw materials such as iron ore, manganese etc. President of Rastriya Ispat Mazdoor Sangh Harish Varma presided at the function organised under the auspices of Rastniya Ispat Mazdooor Sangh (BMS).

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Mantri Rajasekhar, Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC) leader Villa Ram Mohan Kumar and other trade union leaders of VSP also spoke supporting the merger. BMS All India Secretary Pavan Kumar, BMS State Vice President M. Jagadeeshwar Rao, ABIMS general secretary D.K. Pandey and general secretary of BMS V.V.L. Srinivas and MVS Naidu also addressed the gathering.
