HYDERABAD: The city police have busted an inter-State counterfeit currency racket by picking up two persons at Chaipara in West Bengal near Bangladesh border on Thursday.

The suspects -- Naba, 28, and Saha, 35 -- were brought to the city late in the night and being interrogated, police sources said.

A special team of the Commissioner’s Task Force went to Chaipara looking out for the racket organisers. The lead came when two persons, Raju Shaik and Kamesh Shaik, of Kaliachak were caught in Hyderabad carrying fake currency having a face value of Rs. 10 lakh then.

Based on their reported confession that they received the notes from Chaipara, a police team went there and picked up Naba and Saha. Police sources said that the possibility of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence being behind the racket cannot be ruled out.
