Wholesale fish market built at a cost of Rs. 1.18 crore inaugurated at L.B. Nagar
HYDERABAD: The State government is proposing to open another wholesale fish market near the Bowenpally vegetable market, said Minister for Animal Husbandry Dairy Development and Fisheries M. Buddha Prasad on Friday.
Inaugurating a new wholesale fish market built at a cost of Rs. 1.18 crore at L.B. Nagar, he said the Fisheries Department was also proposing to launch 100 mobile selling units in the twin cities.
The Commissioner of Fisheries, Arvind Kumar, said that the department was also ready to open fish outlets in all Rythu Bazaars.
The Minister stated the government had initiated several welfare schemes for the benefit of fishermen with the annual budget raised to Rs. 100 crores from Rs. 25 crores.
The compensation being paid to fishermen lost in sea was hiked from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 2 lakh with the Centre and the State contributing equally. Local MLA M. Ranga Reddy was also present.
