10,000 policemen deployed in Karimnagar district
KARIMNAGAR: As many as 21,16,923 voters including 10,59,867 women would exercise their franchise in 2,241 polling stations on 2,921 electronic voting machines (EVM) spread over Karimnagar Parliament and Kamalapur, Huzurabad and Medaram Assembly constituencies in the district on Thursday.
A total of 13,266 polling personnel are being deployed for the election duties in the district including 2,241 polling officers and others. Out of 2,241 polling stations, the authorities had allocated 217 exclusive women and 214 men polling stations and 1,810 common polling stations.
The polling and police personnel along with the EVMs and other polling material were dispatched to the respective polling stations from Wednesday morning onwards in the district.
The district police had made unprecedented security arrangements with the deployment of over 10,000 police force including 5,000 and odd central paramilitary forces for the smooth conduct of elections.
A total of 51 companies paramilitary forces including 50 companies of Border Security Force (BSF) and one company of CRPF were deployed for election duties in the district by constituting special police teams such as anti-sabotage teams, road opening parties, foot mobiles, striking and special striking forces and static forces etc.
In order to ensure smooth conduct of elections, the district police had already intensified the combing operations in the forests abutting the naxalite-affected villages. The police were also taking measures to videograph the entire polling process in all the polling stations.
