VIJAYAWADA: The season of summer camps is set to begin soon, with children from far and near coming together for a fulfilling time under the able guidance of trainers of soft skills and personality development.

The local branch of the Chinmaya Mission, which has been conducting camps for children every year to foster and inculcate Indian values and culture and instil in them a deep respect for the mother land, is organising its camps this year at 11 places from April 25 to May 4. Children in the age group of eight to 15 years are eligible to participate.

The camps will be conducted at a venue each in Moghalarajapuram, Tikkle Road, Gandhinagar, Sunnapubatteela Centre, Ring Road, Ramavarappadu, One Town, Vidyadharapuram, Bhavanipuram, Gollapudi and Kesarapalli.

Camp coordinator C. Sowmya says these camps will be conducted every day from 7.30 a.m. to 12 noon, with the support of committed and dedicated trainers and individuals. This is the fifth consecutive year that the summer camps are being conducted. Those interested in joining the camp may call 2476762 or 2471561.

Lasting impact

Ms. Sowmya says that it is a firm belief of the Chinmaya Mission that if values and ethics are inculcated at a very young age, it will leave a lasting impact on the young minds and these early impressions will lay a good foundation for them to develop into selfless citizens of society. A nominal fee of Rs.50 will be charged, for which a camp kit will be given to each participant.

Highly-disciplined trainers will read out ‘slokas’ from the Gita, and the participants will also be trained in story-telling from holy books. The children will be exposed to understanding the meaning and significance of ‘stotras’. Quiz will also be conducted.

Bhajans form a refreshing and highly invigorating part of the camps.
