HYDERABAD: The State Government has initiated the process of filling up all the Village Revenue Officers (VROs) posts in different districts.

The Government has decided to enhance the salary being paid to Village Revenue Officers from the existing Rs. 1,900 to Rs. 4,000 in line with the significant increase in work burden.

As part of efforts to strengthen the revenue machinery at the grass root level, the Government had given its go ahead for filling up the vacant mandal revenue officers’ posts, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said.

Participating in the state council meeting of the Confederation of Revenue Employees of Andhra Pradesh here on Sunday, the Chief Minister criticised the Telugu Desam Government for diluting the revenue system at village level.

Responding to the demands put forth by the confederation, Dr. Reddy assured to positively consider the demand for filling vacant group IV posts in the department.

Confederation chairman N. Ananda Rao urged the State Government to concede the long pending demand for compassionate appointments and payment of pensions to VROs.
