Choutupally Hanumantha Reddy scheme to supply water to 11,625 acres

VADYAT (NIZAMABAD Dt.): The Choutupally Hanumantha Reddy lift irrigation scheme intended to supply water to 11,625 acres in Morthad and Kammarpally mandals is nearing completion thanks to special efforts made by Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, according to District Congress Committee president G. Gangadhar.

After visiting the LI scheme’s zero point at Shetpally village in Morthad mandal addressing the media conference at this village, Mr. Gangadhar said the scheme costing Rs.60 crore would be a boon to the two backward mandals.

Work was going on at brisk pace and in all probability it would be over by May end, he added.

About 70 per cent pipeline laying work and 96 per cent of civil works relating to the pump house were completed and motors would be erected by March 12. Efforts were on to go in for trial run of motors by March 20, he said.

The Congress Government led by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy keeping its promise made to people has been completing projects one after another. It had accorded top priority to farm sector and farmers and thus allocated Rs.1070 crore to the district alone under the ambitious Jalayagnam programme, he said.

Ali Sagar LI scheme was completed and dedicated to farmers and Gutpa scheme was almost complete and waiting for the inaugural. When Telugu Desam Party was in rule these two important projects were neglected and allocated not more than Rs.10 crore. Similarly, the Gattupodichina vagu project was constructed spending Rs.14 crore, he noted.

The Morthad Mandal Praja Parishad president B. Narsaiah and the Kammarpally MPP president Devidas and a host of local Congress leaders accompanied the DCC president during his visit.
