HYDERABAD: An eighth standard student G. Uday (13) of Andhra Pradesh Residential School died under suspicious circumstances on the railway tracks in Borabanda on Saturday midnight, even as his relatives cried foul over the incident alleging that it was a murder.
While Uday’s relatives said that he was pushed to death from a building by the school staffers, police maintained that the boy died after he was run over by the MMTS train. “We have registered a case of suspicious death and if necessary alter it after getting the post-mortem report,” Nampally railway Sub-Inspector Rasheed Ahmed said. The residential school is located at Borabanda.
According to police, Uday, a native of Mahabubnagar district, and his four classmates left the hostel around 7 p.m. to watch a second-show movie.
After the movie, the boys were returning to the hostel by crossing the tracks at Borabanda. A speeding train hit Uday resulting in serious head injuries. His classmates immediately shifted him to the OGH where doctors declared him brought dead. Uday’s father Srinivasulu alleged that he received head injuries after staffers pushed him from the building.
