Another actress from the big screen comes up with big designs for the small screen. Maheswari who created ripples on the silver screen with her captivating role in ‘Gulabi’ now promises to make your evenings lighter with some fine and subtle humour.
‘My Name Is Mangatayaru’ is the serial on Zee Telugu that starts this Monday with Maheswari in the title portrayal. Given the star presence and a storyline that is completely off-beat from the present ones curried on channels, Zee is naturally banking on it for a further boost in popularity ratings.
The mega-serial scheduled Monday through Thursday at 8.30 p.m. is about a spinster who is a chef in a leading hotel. Given the name Alivelu Mangatayaru by parents she grows up into a successful professional but is stuck with a name that she is not comfortable with. Who will marry one with such a name, she wonders and ends up shortening it as Maggie.
Maheswari’s presence can be seen as a major driving force. The serial is directed by Vasu Inturi who to his credit the popular ‘Amrutham’.
Music shows have turned to be a major ingredient for channels. If S.P. laid the foundation with excellent handling of his shows, they kept gaining new rhythm with different hosts. Sunitha is one who is adding a new zest with her presence and lovely style. ‘Jhummandi Nadam’ on ETV is one show that offers a refreshing experience and last week episode featuring Sri had some appealing moments. Thoroughly enjoyable fare.
